Build Bridges:
• A common way to get across gaps, both in the landscapes and “bridging” people, understandings, differences, opinions and cultures.
• If you take that idea and put it into symbolic form, people should be doing all that they can to build bridges to friendships, relationships, happiness, prosperity and freedom.
• To promote cooperation, respect, and stronger friendships in your classroom, invite pairs of children to build bridge models using a wide array of craft items.

Introduction To Games Below: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. What does this mean? It means we should treat others the same way you want them to treat you. That is easier said than done. Do you respect everyone and treat them kindly at all times? During our daily contact with others we can show compassion and generosity by treating them with respect and courtesy. This dignified and respectable behavior that we give to others is part of what Jesus was talking about. Try your best to treat others as you would like to be treated and you will find that it will help you so much in everyday life with getting along with others.
The Catholic Toolbox- The Golden Rule
Put the colored Game Cards in two different small baskets and set near the game board. Place your markers at START. Roll the die and move that many spaces. Follow the directions on the space you land on. If the space has a Roll Play activity on it, perform it to the best of your ability. If needed, the teacher will help you understand what to do and coach you how to do it correctly. If the space has True or False or P’s & Q’s on it, draw the corresponding card and read it out loud. Answer the question to the best of your ability (the teacher can coach the student if necessary).
The Catholic Toolbox- How Rude! (A game based on Blunders)
How Rude! is a fun and exciting way to review what is considered rude behavior in today’s society. The game includes 6 types of interactive game cards: multiple choice, scenario, true/false, reward for good manners, charades, and consequences for bad manners. Players or teams roll the dice and move that many spaces on the board. Whichever color is on the space you land on indicates the color card that will be used. The player to your left will read the card aloud to you and you will try to answer correctly. If you answer your question correctly, you may stay where you are. If you are not correct, everyone says, “How Rude!” and you move back to where you were. The first player or team to get to the “FINISH,” square first is the WINNER!

Catholic Ultimate Outburst Game
This game is free, however it is only to be used for classroom and personal use. It may not be published on any websites or other electronic media, or distributed in newsletters, bulletins, or any other form or sold for profit. Reproduction or retransmission of any materials, in whole or in part, in any manner, is not permitted.
*All graphics/images/clipart etc. used on this game are not my own and are from various internet sources.
Catholic Ultimate Outburst is based on the game Ultimate Outburst.
Catholic Ultimate Outburst is a game of lists. Two teams take turns trying to guess as many of the 6 answers to a topic on the cards. Catholic Ultimate Outburst features 3 rounds of play. Round one- players try guess as many answers as they can that match the current category. Round Two- Reverse Burst is where you hear and answers and guess the topic. Round Three- Challenge Outburst where you bid against the opponents. The team with the most points is the winner.
Setup:
The players divide into two teams
160 Catholic Ultimate Outburst Game Cards
1 minute timer
Dry erase board or chalk board
1 die
Round One – Outburst
The first round of Ultimate Outburst the team with the highest roll goes first. The teacher will shuffle the cards and draw a card from the deck. The teacher will be the scorekeeper and will read the answers on the card to familiarize himself with them. The scorekeeper then reads the category to the team and then starts the timer. The team then yells out as many answers as they can that match the current category. When the team comes up with one of the answers from the card, the scorekeeper says “yes” and writes the word(s) on the board to indicate that the answer was given.
The team keeps yelling out answers until the timer runs out. The scorekeeper reads off all the answers that the team did not give to make sure that they didn’t miss marking off any of the answers that the team came up with. The scorekeeper adds up the correct responses. One point is awarded for each correct answer.
The other team then takes their turn. Both teams switch off taking turns until six cards have been played. The game then moves onto round two.
Round Two – Reverse Burst
Just like in the first round the team with the highest roll goes first. The scorekeeper will draw a card from the deck. In this round the team is trying to guess the category (word at the top of the card) that connects all of the words together. The scorekeeper starts the timer and reads the first clue on the card. Players from the team can make as many guesses as they want. When the players want another clue, they ask the scorekeeper for the next clue. The scorekeeper then reads off the next clue on the card. Player can also ask the reader to repeat all revealed answers at any time.
The round ends when either the timer runs out or the team successfully guesses the card’s category. If the timer runs out, the team scores zero points for the round. If the team successfully guesses the card’s category the team receives points.
Points: 1 clue= 6 points
2 clues=5 points
3 clues=4 points
4 clues=3 points
5 clues=2 points
6 clues=1 point
The round continues until six cards have been played (3 cards for each team).
Round Three – Challenge
In round three the players will use 6 cards (3 cards for each team). The team that is behind will go first. The team will then choose how many of the 6 answers they think they can get. The other team can then either raise the bid or pass the card to the other team. This bidding process continues back and forth until one team passes.
The team that bids higher will then get to play the card. The round is played the same as round one where players try to guess as many of the answers on the card as they can. The scorekeeper will remove a card from the deck and read the clue at the top of the card.
When the timer runs out, points will be awarded to the team who won the bid. If the team was able to get as many or more answers than they bid, they receive a point for each correct answer. If the team was unable to get as many answers as they bid, the other team receives a point for each bid they could not answer. Example: The team bid 4 correct answers and they only got 3. The other team therefore receives 1 point.
This round continues with the next card being bid on with the team that is behind making the first bid. This continues until all six cards are used. The team with the most points is the winner.

Life of Christ Board Game
This game is free, however it is only to be used for classroom and personal use. It may not be published on any websites or other electronic media, or distributed in newsletters, bulletins, or any other form or sold for profit. Reproduction or retransmission of any materials, in whole or in part, in any manner, is not permitted. All graphics/images/clipart etc. used on this activity are not my own and are from various internet sources.
Timeline for game board taken from: mb-soft.com
*You can play this game individually or in teams.
Object: Collect tokens by moving around the game board and answering questions about the life of Christ. The player with the most tokens at the end of the game, wins.
Materials Needed:
Game Board
Game markers
1 die
150 Question Cards
Tokens
*Playing pieces can be coins, colored buttons, game pieces from other games, fish rocks for the bottom of aquariums, craft foam cut into shapes, glass rocks for vases, etc. You can paint small objects such as rocks, small plastic tops or caps, etc. You can also buy pawns at game stores.
How To Play:
Place 2 small baskets on the table to put question cards in. Put the question cards in one basket (the other basket will be for discards). Place your markers on the "Birth of Jesus” space. Each player throws a die (1) or the first players of both teams throws a die (1) to decide who starts the game. The player with the highest throw starts. Each player takes a turn by rolling the die (1) and moving that many spaces. The player on their right will draw a card and read the question out loud. On each card is a question about the life of Christ. If the player answers the question correctly, they receive a token. If they do not answer the question correctly, they do not receive a token and their turn is over. If a player rolls a 6 with one die or 6 with a combination of dice (2) they may take a token from any player they choose.
Optional Game Play:

Building My Cross (Good Friday)- During this game, children will build a cross for themselves and discover Jesus took their place. (The Encyclopedia of Bible Games, page 147).
The Catholic Toolbox- Last Supper File Folder Game
Review lesson with the following games:
Baseball
Divide the class into two teams. Establish in the classroom, a first base, second base, third base, and home. Determine in advance how many innings will be played. Team #1 is up at bat first and line up along the chalkboard. The first player is asked a question from the teacher, if they are correct, they advance to first base. If they are incorrect, they go to the end of the line and it counts as an out. The second batter is then asked a different question. Each correct answer allows the batter to advance one base. The game continues like baseball until there are three outs. After three outs, Team #2 has their turn at bat. Whichever team has the most runs, wins.
Basketball
Need: one small ball (or two balled up pieces of paper), two chairs, one trashcan.
Directions: Put a trashcan against a wall. Divide the class into two teams. Have students line up in two teams behind a chair (to keep them from getting too close to basket). Ask the first person in Team #1 a question. If they are correct, they get to try to make a basket. If they make a basket, their team gets a point. If they do not get a basket, their team does not receive a point. After the first player has his turn, he then goes to the end of Team #1’s line. It is now Team #2’s turn. The team with the most points wins.
Pass the Rooster! (Pass the Chicken)
Introduce game: What crowed three times just like Jesus said it would? A rooster.
Need: A fake rooster.
Directions: In this game, nobody wants to hold the rooster -- the game's only prop! To begin the game, all students sit in a circle. Select one person to be “It”. That person holds the rooster. The teacher asks the person holding the rooster a Bible Question and then says, “Pass the rooster!" As soon as the teacher says, "Pass the rooster," the person holding the rooster passes it to the right. Students quickly pass the rooster around the circle. If it returns to the original holder before he or she can answer the question, the holder is still “It”. Otherwise, the person holding the rooster when “It” finishes answering the question is the new “It”. The teacher should prepare the questions for this game in advance.
(Alternate rules)
An egg timer is set for any time the teacher wishes. The teacher then gives a student the rooster and asks them a Bible Question. The student must answer the question correctly. If they do not, the student must answer another question until they are correct. When the student is correct, the teacher says, “Pass the rooster!” and the student passes the rooster to the person on their right and that student must answer a Bible Question to be able to pass the rooster. Whoever is holding the rooster with the timer goes off is the rooster.
