Loving others demands respect, consideration, cooperation, care, etc. Love is about giving. Fill these chore charts out or have the students come up with their own chores to do and color. These can be given to parents or friends/family etc. to show they are serious about their respect for them, care, etc. They are to bring the chore charts back signed next week and receive a small gift as a reward for their good deeds.

Introduce Games: The beatitudes come from the opening verses of the famous Sermon on the Mount delivered by Jesus and recorded in Matthew 5:3-12. Here Jesus states several blessings, each beginning with the phrase, "Blessed are ..." Each saying speaks of a blessing or "divine favor" bestowed upon a person resulting from the possession of a certain character quality. The purpose of the beatitudes is to inspire you to act in certain ways. Therefore, living them out is absolutely at the heart of the matter. So do you have the right attitudes that God wants you to have?

It is good for us to remember Jesus' teaching. How can you remember Jesus' Great Commandment? You can make a poster for your room! Just follow the directions below. You will need some colored paper, scissors, and glue. You might also need some markers or crayons. It is a good idea to ask a grown up to help you.

1. Write out each word on separate pieces of paper. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind”. Matthew 22: 37 or “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” Matthew 22:39

2. Put them in order.

3. Glue them onto the colored paper. You can decorate the paper and make it look nice.
4. Hang the poster in your room. You will see it every day when you wake up! This way, you can remember Jesus' Great Commandment!

The Catholic Toolbox- Back Talk Game
The object of this game is for the children to honor their parent’s requests in the proper way. Print out the three sets of cards. One set is what a parent would say to their child (these cards are in red). Another set is a disrespectful response from a child to the parent. Another set of cards is what the child should say to their parent. Shuffle the cards and deal them completely out. Have the players put their cards face up in from of them so that others can see and read their cards and help them if necessary. By taking turns, have one player start with what a parent would say and read it out loud. After they have read the card, they place it in the middle of the table face up. The rest of the players then check their cards to see if they have one that says what a disrespectful child would say to their parent in response in this situation. If they have the card, they read it out loud and place it face up next to the first card. Then the players look at their cards to see if they have what a child should say to their parent. If they have the card, they read it out loud and place it face up next to the second card. Players can also play in teams so they can help each other answer the questions.

Introduce movie: How many times are you to forgive someone? Many, many times.

The Grapes of Wrath (12 min.)

Questions to ask after movie:

1. What did the grapes do to Junior? They made fun of him.
2. Who does God want us to be kind to? Everyone
3. When someone says they are sorry and they really mean it, what should you say? I forgive you.
4. How many times are you supposed to forgive someone? Not 7 times, but seventy times seven (490). In other words, many, many times.

Larry’s Lagoon (15 min.)

1. What happened to the boat? Larry smashed it.
2. How did everyone feel about Larry? They were mad at him.
3. How doe it feel when someone says they forgive you? It feels good.
4. It is wrong to not forgive someone when they say they are sorry and they really mean it? Yes.

This dignified and respectable behavior that we give to others is part of what Jesus was talking about. Follow the directions on the space you land on. If the space has a Roll Play activity on it, perform it to the best of your ability. If needed, the teacher will help you understand what to do and coach you how to do it correctly. If the space has True or False or P’s & Q’s on it, draw the corresponding card and read it out loud. Answer the question to the best of your ability (the teacher can coach the student if necessary).

The Catholic Toolbox- How Rude! (A game based on Blunders)
How Rude! is a fun and exciting way to review what is considered rude behavior in today’s society. The game includes 6 types of interactive game cards: multiple choice, scenario, true/false, reward for good manners, charades, and consequences for bad manners. Players or teams roll the dice and move that many spaces on the board. Whichever color is on the space you land on indicates the color card that will be used. The player to your left will read the card aloud to you and you will try to answer correctly. If you answer your question correctly, you may stay where you are. If you are not correct, everyone says, “How Rude!” and you move back to where you were. The first player or team to get to the “FINISH,” square first is the WINNER!
