This Bible craft is for teaching on the “I Am’s” of Jesus. Instead of asking our kids who they think Jesus is, we can lead them through scripture and show them who Jesus is. We should show them who Jesus Himself said He was. And that is exactly what this craft will accomplish.

Introduction- Listen to what Jesus said, "I am the vine and you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

If we keep our life connected to Jesus, we will grow. Our life will produce beautiful leaves and delicious fruit. But if we are separated from Jesus, our leaves will wither and die and we will never put forth any fruit. So how does Jesus want us to live?

The Analogy of the Vine and Branches
• The Characters:
Jesus describes himself as the "true vine," his Father as the "gardener," and believers as the "branches".
o What does the imagery of the vine, gardener, and branches reveal about the relationship between Jesus, God the Father, and believers?
o How does Jesus' use of this metaphor contrast with the Old Testament's depiction of Israel as an unfaithful vine (Isaiah 5:7)?

• The Gardener's Actions: The Father, as the gardener, takes two actions: He "takes away" every branch that does not bear fruit and "prunes" every branch that does.
o What is the difference between these two actions? What do they signify in the life of a believer?
o What does the pruning of fruitful branches reveal about God's priorities for believers?
o How have you experienced "pruning" in your own life? Was it comfortable or painful? How did it lead to greater fruitfulness?

Abiding and Fruitfulness
• The Command to Abide:
Jesus repeats the command to "abide" or "remain" in him multiple times. o What does it mean, in practice, to "abide" in Jesus?
o Jesus says a branch cannot bear fruit by itself. What does this mean for our own efforts to live a righteous life?
o What are some of the biggest challenges to consistently abiding in Christ?

• The Purpose of Fruit: Bearing fruit is the expected outcome for a branch connected to the vine.
o What is the "fruit" Jesus refers to? What does it look like in daily life? (See also Galatians 5:22-23)
o According to verse 8, what is the ultimate purpose of bearing fruit?
o In what areas of your life are you currently bearing fruit for God?

• The Consequences of Unfruitfulness: Jesus describes what happens to branches that do not remain in him.
o What are the consequences for a branch that does not bear fruit?
o This passage is often used to discuss the security of a believer's salvation. What does this passage suggest about the difference between a true believer and someone who merely professes faith?

Application and Personal Reflection
• The Role of God's Word:
Verse 3 says the disciples are "already clean because of the word I have spoken to you."
o What role does God's word play in the cleansing and fruit-bearing process?
o How can meditating on and obeying Jesus' words help you to abide in him?

• The Abiding Prayer: Jesus promises in verse 7 that if we abide in him and his words abide in us, we can ask for whatever we wish, and it will be done.
o What does this promise imply about the nature of our prayers when we are truly abiding in Christ?

• Glorifying the Father: Bearing much fruit brings glory to the Father (v. 8).
o Why does fruitfulness bring glory to God?
o How can we ensure that God, not ourselves, gets the credit for the fruit in our lives?
