A to Z Bible Story Lesson- Letter T

T- Ten Commandments


Objectives: The children will be able to
- retell the story Moses and the Ten Commandments
- identify Moses as the leader of God’s people
- discuss why God gave the people the Ten Commandments


Review:

Plan:



Circle Time:

Read story: “Moses and the Ten Commandments ” from your own story book.


Then ask questions from below.

What did God tell Moses to climb? Mount Sinai

What did God give Moses that the people must always keep? The Ten Commandments.

Who are we supposed to love above anything else? God

Are we supposed to use God’s name in a bad way? No

Is it important to go to church and worship God every Sunday? Yes

Are we supposed to respect our parents? Yes

Are we supposed to tell the truth or tell lies? The truth.

Does God want us to be honest? Yes

Is it bad to steal? Yes

Should we wish for things that other people have? No

Why are these rules important and why did God give the people the Ten Commandments? Because they help us love God and love others.

The people forgot the laws and didn't keep to them. How did God punish them? By making them stay in the desert for 40 years.

Introduce craft: Why are these rules important and why did God give the people the Ten Commandments? Because they help us love God and love others.

Introduce game: What mountain did Moses climb?




Climb Mount Sinai File Folder Game: Be the first to climb Mount Sinai and win!

Directions: The objective of the game is to be the first to climb to the top of Mount Sinai. The players roll a die and follow the directions on the space they land on. If the player lands on a space that is already occupied by another, BUMP that player back to the START space. The first player to the top of Mount Sinai (FINISH) wins. Continue playing to find out who comes in second, third, fourth, etc. place.







Introduce game: What did God give Moses that the people must obey? (The Ten Commandments)

Ten Commandments Memory Game (Catholic)


Directions: Cards are laid out in a grid face down, and players take turns flipping pairs of cards over. On each turn, the player will first turn one card over, then a second. If the two cards match, the player scores one point, the two cards are removed from the game, and the player gets another turn. If they do not match, the cards are turned back over.

The object is to match more pairs of cards than the opposing player. (One point is scored for each matched pair, and the player with the highest score after all cards have been matched wins.) When cards are turned over, it is important to remember where they are for when the matching card is turned up later in the game.










Snacks:

Introduce snack: At Mount Sinai what did God give Moses that the people must always keep? The Ten Commandments.

Tell the children that we must obey God's Commandments and God's rules. The donut represents the letter "O" in obey.

Cut bread into a shape of a tablet and spread with butter or jam. Enjoy!

Stop Sign Cookies or Crackers- Serve stop sign shaped cookies or crackers

Tapioca Pudding, Tarts, Tea, Tea Biscuits, Toast, Tomato, Tortilla Chips, Tuna, Turkey, etc.
