Student Folders/Binders

To cut down on lost papers and to be better organized, give your students folders or binders. What teachers use for student folders depends upon the grade level and what kind of work the student does in class. It can be as simple as a folder with two pockets with or without brads and be as elaborate as a small binder with dividers.

• Two pocket folder with brads.

• Small binder

• Avery #11907 Tab Dividers. You can print your inserts on the computer by using the Avery perforated tab insert sheet that is provided in the packet to make it nice and neat.

You can label the pockets:

• Class Syllabus

• CCD Class Schedule

• Class Rules

• Flyers/Announcements/Newsletters

Agenda Book/Planner- helps students stay organized and current on assignments.

Assignment & Grade Sheets- sheets to write down assignments, when they are assigned, when they are due, grades, etc.

• Homework

• Behavior- Behavior Contract & Behavior Chart, Behavior Report, etc.

Parent/Teacher Communication

• Prayers- Prayer Booklet, Prayer Chart (prayers that the student has completed), etc.

• Graded Papers

• Etc.

What kind of student folder do you use? How is it labeled?

  2. Janel- Do you use student folders/binders? What kind do you use and what is in there? Or what kind do you plan to use and what will you put in there? :)

  3. Hi Grace,

I wanted to stop in to say thank you for all the support you have given us over the past few days! :)

For CCD, I use white 1.5" 3-ring binders with a vinyl cover pocket.

I include a special cover - I just posted two new ones on the site, although I have more on the resource DVD that I just haven't had the time to update on the site yet.

I include my two prayer sheets called "Prayers I Should Know" and I place those in vinyl heavy weight sheet protectors so that they open as a full spread and withstand the wear and tear of frequent use.

Additionally placed in the vinyl covers is my special gentle examination of conscience, which also doubles as a Ten Commandments reminder sheet.

As for housekeeping, I place a copy of the class rules, expectations for the year, and a matching check-off sheet in the binder so that children can keep track of their own learning goals (aside from the ones I keep in my own grade book.) Children are as well given a "To Do" Sheet which they can write down and check-off weekly reading and assignments.

As part of our yearly goals, I require a mass journal be kept so I include eight of my Mass Journal Notebooking Sheets in there as well although I like to print those off on different color paper so that they stand out easily. I separate these from the rest of the papers with a blank prepared F3 folder.

I sometimes add a few goodies, too. This year I think I may use my newly updated learning cards for prayers and basic catechism reinforcement. I laminate them and put them on an open clasp ring, and then it slides right into the binder.

I hope this helps out somehow.

    Blessings,
    Kalei

  4. Kalei- WOW! Thank you for letting us know what you do and posting some of it on your site. I can't wait to check it out!

I am so glad that you put your site back up. I use it all the time and I know others do too. :)

  5. I love the colors of the folders. I could use them to fix my loose files in the office.
