It is good for us to remember Jesus' teaching. How can you remember Jesus' Great Commandment? You can make a poster for your room! Just follow the directions below. You will need some colored paper, scissors, and glue. You might also need some markers or crayons. It is a good idea to ask a grown up to help you.
1. Write out each word on separate pieces of paper. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind”. Matthew 22: 37 or “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” Matthew 22:39
2. Put them in order.
3. Glue them onto the colored paper. You can decorate the paper and make it look nice.
4. Hang the poster in your room. You will see it every day when you wake up! This way, you can remember Jesus' Great Commandment!

The context (verses 34–35)
• The Pharisees approached Jesus to test him, having heard he had silenced the Sadducees. What does their motivation reveal about their priorities?
• A lawyer, or expert in Mosaic Law, asked the question. Why would an expert in the Law ask this question, and what was he hoping to accomplish?
The first and greatest commandment (verse 37)
• Jesus quotes Deuteronomy 6:5: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind". What is the difference between loving God with your "heart," "soul," and "mind"?
• What does it mean to love God completely with every part of your being, and what does this look like in your daily life?
• What are the modern-day "idols" that compete for your affection and get in the way of loving God?
The second commandment (verse 39)
• Jesus says the second commandment, "Love your neighbor as yourself," is "like" the first. In what ways are these two commandments similar or linked?
• What does it mean to love your neighbor "as yourself"? In what ways can self-love serve as a model for how to treat others?
• How can you demonstrate love to your neighbors, colleagues, and peers this week in a practical way?
The conclusion (verse 40)
• Jesus declares that "all the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments". What does this statement imply about the relationship between love and obedience to God's law?
• Why do you think Jesus distilled the hundreds of laws in the Old Testament down to these two core principles?
• How does focusing on the principle of love, rather than just the letter of the law, transform your perspective on your faith?
Personal application
• Are you living a life of love right now? Evaluate your love for God and others.
• Think of someone in your life who is difficult to love. How can you more intentionally show love to them?
• How can you ensure that love, and not just religious rituals or knowledge, is central to your faith?
