Sheep from the Goats Freeze Tag
Designate a playing area. Have a student volunteer to be “It”.
Say: One day the sheep will be separated by the goats. In this game someone is “It” and he will separate the sheep from the goats. If “It” tags you, you are frozen and cannot move. The only way you can become unfrozen if another sheep comes and tags you. Play continues until all the players are frozen. Then the last person to be frozen is "It" for the next game.
If you have time, play several rounds, having kids change groups and roles.
After playing the game, ask your students:
1. What was it like waiting to be unfrozen?
2. How is being chosen by Jesus like being untagged by someone?
Pin the Crown on Christ
A game like pin the tail on the donkey, with a large picture of an enthroned Christ. Have the students pin the crown on Christ.
Liturgical Year Games
sbennettstann.weebly- Liturgical Calendar Jeopardy Game
holyheroes.com- FeastDay! The Liturgical Year Board Game
This is a learning game based on informative trivia questions for each of the liturgical (Church) seasons. If players start on the Advent season, the start of the Church year, and progress around the board, they can in effect “play” their way through the year. There are question cards for each season along with bonus FeastDay! cards explaining about feasts and devotions.
Sitting Duck- (You can play this game with 4 people or divide the group into 4 teams.) When players answer questions correctly about the liturgical year they get to roll a die and move around the game board. If you land on a sitting duck, all players must say out loud “Sitting Duck!” Another player who happens to come by on the game board (they can land on the space or just be passing by on their roll) can BUMP you back to START. The first player to FINISH wins.
Seasons of the Liturgical Year Board Game- This game is based on the Feast Day! and can be played individually or in teams. The object of the game is to collect tokens by moving around the game board by answering questions about feast days as well as important facts about the teachings of the Church that are woven through the Liturgical Year. The player with the most tokens at the end of the game, wins.

Comprehension questions
• The Setting: Who is the Son of Man, and where is he when this judgment occurs? Who or what is gathered before him?
• The Division: How does the Son of Man separate the people, and what do the sheep and goats represent?
• The Sheep's actions: What specific acts of mercy are the "sheep" commended for?
• The Goats' failure: What did the "goats" fail to do?
• The surprise: Why are both the righteous and the unrighteous surprised by the King's words?
• • The outcome: What is the fate of the righteous (the sheep) and the unrighteous (the goats)?
• The King's identity: How does Jesus identify with "the least of these" and what does this imply about how we should treat others?
Deeper reflection questions
• Faith and works: The passage focuses on works of mercy, not faith. How does this relate to other parts of scripture that emphasize salvation by grace through faith (e.g., Ephesians 2:8–10)? How can a person's deeds be seen as evidence of their faith?
• Identity of "the least of these": Who are "the least of these my brothers" that Jesus refers to? Are they fellow Christians, all people in need, or both? How does your interpretation affect your understanding of the passage?
• Sins of omission: The judgment against the "goats" is for what they failed to do, not for any specific sin of commission. How does this distinction challenge your perspective on morality and obedience?
• Personal application: If you had to stand before the King today, which side would you be on? What are the practical implications of this parable for your daily life?
• The King's glory: The parable begins with Jesus arriving in his glory. Why might Jesus choose to tell a story about humble acts of service right before this glorious, triumphant scene?
• Comfort or challenge?: Does this parable offer you comfort or does it challenge you? How does thinking about the final judgment affect your sense of assurance and your motivation to serve?

Part 1: Write the names of the liturgical seasons and the months in which they occur in the appropriate spaces on the liturgical calendar. You may refer to part 2 for a list of the names. Also color in (or legibly print the name of) the liturgical color associated with each section of the calendar. Part 2: Write a brief description of each liturgical season, liturgical celebration, or both, and place them in their proper order by numbering each, beginning with Advent as “1.” One liturgical time occurs twice on the calendar and will, therefore, have two numbers associated with it.
smp.org- Liturgical Year Match
Column 1 lists the holy days of obligation and several other feast days of the Liturgical Year. Column 2 lists the dates on which those feasts are celebrated. The task of each group is to match the holy day or feast day with its date, and then to list the days and dates in the order of the Liturgical Year in column 3.
