Drive Out Elisha Game
Introduce game- What happened to Elisha after he only cured Naaman the Syrian captain of leprosy? When the people in the synagogue heard this, they were all filled with fury. They rose up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong.
Need- Empty 2-liter bottle, picture/coloring page of Elisha, tape, balled up paper or small soft ball
Directions- Have students draw and color Elisha, then cut him out and tape him on an empty 2-liter bottle. Remind the students that Elisha was driven out of town by the people in the synagogue. Tell the class "In Jesus' day, when people were caught committing certain crimes, the punishment may have been to drive them out of the town by the people living in the village.” Tell the students that we will recreate using our Elisha what it was like being driven out of town during Jesus’ time. Line up the students in one line and standing behind a chair. Put Elisha a few feet away in front of the chair. Students take turns throwing a small ball at Elisha.
